PLA filament! PLA (Polylactic Acid) is one of the most common and widely used materials for 3D printing. It's made from renewable resources like cornstarch or sugarcane, making it biodegradable and more environmentally friendly compared to other plastics.
- Strength and durability: PLA is relatively strong, but it's more brittle than some other materials like ABS or PETG.
- Surface finish: PLA typically provides a smooth and shiny finish, making it great for decorative objects or models.
- Environmental impact: Since it’s biodegradable, it’s a more eco-friendly option compared to other petroleum-based plastics.
Properties:
- Low shrinkage: PLA has minimal shrinkage during printing, which reduces the likelihood of warping.
- Low odor: PLA emits a faint, sweet smell when printing, which is much more pleasant than some other filaments like ABS.
- Limited heat resistance: PLA can deform or warp at higher temperatures (around 60°C or above), so it’s not ideal for items exposed to heat, like car parts or kitchen tools.
Care and Storage!

- PLA filament is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture from the air, which can cause issues like bubbling, stringing, and poor print quality.
